At the end of 2019, Letovo’s department of foreign languages launched the ambitious project of creative storytelling in English — Letovo Tales. Almost all Letovo students took part in the project. The author of the idea, developer of the training toolkit, and head of the project is Vasily Gorbachev, who wanted the children to learn to write stories about the memorable events in their lives. Some project participants got so involved that they created true pieces of art with elements of fiction. However, most texts have become the summer stories that tell readers about what kind of people study and work in our school — as was initially designed by Vasily Gorbachyov. Formatted and illustrated by school students, the book was recently delivered from the publishing facility, and yesterday its presentation took place in the school library. The book was presented by the English teacher, Elena Kuvshinova — just like other department’s teachers, she was among the project initiators: foundations of storytelling and specific features of written speech were introduced to the students in the English lessons, and it was at that time that they started writing their first stories. In his video message, Vasily Gorbachyov, the author of the idea, spoke on Letovo Tales’ essence and work process — and his participation in the presentation was a great gift for all attendees. But the stars of the evening were the authors of the book — five students who wanted to share their impressions of their work with texts and to talk about the inspiration and difficulties, of the goals and creative process: Gleb Bakhtin, Olga Korkina, Maria Babenko, Anna Orlova and Liudmila Kapilevich. This real book that today any Letovo student can borrow in the school library has become the irresistible proof of language fluency, teamwork skills, and desire to innovate — of all the things Letovo students learn and improve in their school.
